At Main Street Dental, our level II registered dental assistants (RDA II) are multi-skilled health care professionals who possess a diverse knowledge base. Their education and training, professionalism and experience, coupled with their provincial registration and licensing, qualify them to perform a variety of supportive and direct patient care procedures in the dental office.
Registered dental assistants prepare for and support patients for treatment by practicing universal precautions and infection control. They are responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by enforcing the guidelines set out in the Infection Control Protocol.
Registered dental assistants not only work alongside the dentist during dental procedures, but they also independently provide many dental services in the office, including polishing teeth, providing fluoride treatments, taking dental radiographs, and applying dental sealants, among others.
Registered dental assistants also ensure patient comfort and support while in the office and are involved in providing oral self-care, disease prevention, post-operative care, nutritional counseling and dental health education to patients.
